The Royal Highland Show 2009
This year's show was the most popular ever with over 176,500 visitors and we think that more than 7,500 of them visited our marquee over the four days - and did they create a heck of a buzz!
Our campaign this year was ‘Save the WeeBees' which aims to increase awareness of the plight of the bumblebee, whose numbers are in rapid decline, and their importance to biodiversity, pollination, the food chain and the economy.
4,000 free children's activity packs containing a bee-themed magazine plus other goodies, bee ID guides and display boards helped to highlight the problem.
To encourage people to help create environments that bumblebees love, we gave away 12,000 packets of wildflower seeds and 3,000 dog rose and hawthorn hedgerow shrubs for people to sow and plant.
After all this activity, the Weebees in central Scotland should have a more secure future!
