Image isn’t everything! Correcting the myth!
Bats are misunderstood and maligned – but essential! Eurobats and the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) have designated 2011 as Year of the Bat in Europe, with a global campaign set for 2012. Following the success of similar projects in recent years, Central Scotland Forest Trust (CSFT) has decided to celebrate the year with a dedicated biodiversity campaign, including guided walks, survey opportunities, a school information and activity pack, community and corporate events, and a research study into how bats use woodlands to link the campaign in with International Year of the Forest. More information on the international Year of the Bat is available as well as information on the national campaign being coordinated by the Bat Conservation Trust. Funding for this project has been received from Forestry Commission Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage. Invaluable advice has been provided by the Bat Conservation Trust.
