Braes Pupils Go “Brashing”
27 October 2009
No, not wearing too many different brands or logos as the ‘urban dictionary' defines it, but removing the lower branches of trees!
Twelve 6th year pupils from Braes High School donned hard hats and safety goggles to help carry out improvement works at a Falkirk Council owned woodland in California, Falkirk.
CSFT arranged for the group to volunteer their services to do something for their local community, and to learn new skills at the same time.
The pupils spent the day brashing and thinning the woodland which lies adjacent to the Blackbraes and Maddiston path. Their hard work has opened up the overgrown sections of the path and let more light stream in.
They have made a huge difference to this popular route, ensuring that it remains in good condition for local people to use and enjoy, both now and for the foreseeable future.
