Central Scotland Forest Trust  has become the first Scottish company to receive a top employment accolade for its commitment to staff development.

CSFT received the coveted, "IIP Champion" status from Investors In People (IIP) for its role in improving the performance and realising the objectives of its staff through continued development of people.

Simon Rennie, chief executive of CSFT, said: "CSFT is delighted to be the first Scottish organisation ever to be recognised with this award from Investors in People.  Only a handful of companies in the UK receive this prestigious award, so the recognition is not just a cause for celebration for CSFT but for Scotland too.

"CSFT is a small organisation which likes to think big and we are delighted to receive this accolade as recognition of our innovation in the work place and continued commitment to developing our people.

"CSFT currently employs 33 members of staff and we have held Investors in People status for 10 years. This award recognises that we take both staff development and our responsibilities as employers very seriously. This we do, and will continue to do, to the very best of our ability and resources."

Peter Russian, chief executive of Investors in People Scotland, said: "We are absolutely delighted that Central Scotland Forest Trust has become the first Investors in People Champion in Scotland.  This award recognises and rewards a team who have been at the forefront of innovative and effective leadership and management in Scotland and who have not only reaped benefits from its approach but shared its practice and experience with others. We hope that this award inspires many other organisations to really focus on the effectiveness of their own approach and to share their experiences and ideas with others."

"IIP Champions" are Investors in People UK's role model organisations. They champion the standard and profile and promote the programme through a series of best practice sharing activities.
