Linlithgow Bridge Primary School in Linlthgow, West Lothian, applied to the Community Projects Fund in 2006 for a £250 contribution towards a £2627 project to transform an area of their school grounds for outdoor learning and bio-diversity.

The project involved:

  • Creation of willow ‘fedge', sensory and wildlife garden
  • Screening an unsightly fence by planting ivy and honeysuckle
  • Building a deck, arbour and path to enable lessons to be held outdoors

RF MacKay, an Edinburgh based company, had contacted CSFT to discuss corporate sponsorship and volunteering.  On guidance from CSFT, the company raised £1160 through an in-store promotion and decided to donate the full amount towards the project.

The school were delighted by the windfall and were able to deliver their project earlier than anticipated.  The local press covered the story providing valuable promotion for RF MacKay who appreciated the opportunity to make a contribution to a worthwhile project.
