Community Projects Fund

What is the Community Projects Fund?

Administered by Central Scotland Forest Trust, the Community Projects Fund provides one-off grants of up to £250 to help people living within the Central Scotland Forest area improve their environment and make a positive difference for all the community.

What kind of project is eligible for a grant?

Any project that demonstrates clear bio-diversity, environmental and community benefits, has plenty of support from local people and complies with the grant criteria, including:

  • Native woodland or hedgerow planting
  • Wildflower meadow, wildlife and sensory garden creation
  • Community allotments, composting and recycling schemes
  • Access and health improvement projects
  • Environmentally themed community events and arts projects

Who can apply?

The fund is open to any ‘formally’ constituted group with office bearers and a bank account. Examples of eligible groups include:

  • community woodland and nature park groups
  • local environmental or community action groups
  • community councils and residents associations
  • youth groups such as Scouts, Brownies
  • schools and colleges

Grant criteria

The project must be within the Central Scotland Forest area and demonstrate clear environmental and community benefits.  Projects should support and encourage bio-diversity and address community need.

The applicant must provide ‘before' and ‘after' photographs of the project or a project plan plus a short report on completion and agree to participate in any publicity.  It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that written permission is obtained from the guardian of children or vulnerable adults before taking photographs.

Grants cannot be given to cover goods or services that are the responsibility of statutory bodies such as Social Services or are required as part of planning permission
