Community Projects & Consultation
The Central Scotland Forest Trust, in conjunction with partner organisations, undertakes a variety of environmental renewal projects which impact upon local communities. Wherever possible, community representation is sought, because involving those who are to benefit from, or will be affected by, new woodlands, access routes, nature parks, and offices or factories allows local knowledge, needs, concerns and community ownership to be taken into consideration at the planning stages.
To find out if any community consultations involving the Central Scotland Forest Trust are taking place in your locality, contact your area Sustainable Development Officer. If you see notices for community consultations run by any organisation – get involved! It’s your chance to express your personal and local views. Don’t think it’s got nothing to do with you – it’s got everything to do with you – why not take the opportunity to have your say?
You don’t need to wait for community consultations to make things happen. If you or your community group have ideas to improve your local environment through activities such as:
- managing or owning a nature park
- converting derelict land into a community green space
- clearing litter and fly tipping or removing graffiti from buildings
- upgrading paths, walking or cycling routes to make them more pleasant
- creating community gardens to add colour or interest to an area
- planting trees, hedges, shrubs and wildflowers to attract wildlife
then contact your area Sustainable Development Officer for advice and support and to discuss your ideas further.
