Well done and thank you to all of you who have taken the ‘Save our Native Bluebell' campaign to your hearts.
Since its launch at the Falkirk Wheel in April, an incredible 32,000 bluebell bulbs have been given away to members of the public to plant throughout central Scotland in their gardens or local woodlands AND we have received nearly £1200 in donations to help buy more.
10,000 bulbs have been given away to visitors to the Falkirk Wheel; 2,000 at Big in Falkirk; 10,000 over a hectic 4 days at the Royal Highland Show and 2,000 at an environmental instore promotion at IKEA in Glasgow. We have also been able to donate 3,000 bulbs to community groups who applied to our Community Project Fund for money to buy bluebell bulbs.
A further 8,000 have been planted by children and adults at smaller community events and another 11 planting events planned for the autumn should see at least another 13,500 bulbs planted.
By the end of the year we will have exceeded, by nearly double, our planting target of 25,000 bulbs, an amazing achievement!
