By Train

Trains from Edinburgh and Glasgow run to Shotts railway station. For up to date train times, call National Rail Enquiries http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ on 0845 7484950.

On foot

Starting from the railway station, a paved path is present all the way to Hillhouseridge, a distance of about 2 kilometres.

On leaving the station turn left onto Station Road. Follow station road to a sharp right hand bend where the road becomes known as Shottskirk Road. Continue to follow this road past the small roundabout and continue until you reach a crossroads. Take a left turn (this is still Shottskirk road) and continue until you reach another sharp right hand bend. Follow the bend and continue walking up the hill past the large silver coloured factory and you will come to our offices at the top of the hill. Note that parts of the footpath are not lit and you may wish to return to the station by alternative means if it is dark.

By bicycle

National Cycle Route No. 75 passes by Shotts some 5 miles to the north. Leave the cycle route between  milepost 31 and 32 at Blackridge and follow the B718 and B717 to Hillhouseridge.  Shotts can be accessed by a variety of fairly quiet lanes though many routes are hilly.  If arriving in Shotts by train you can follow the directions given in the walking section above. Bikes can be stored securely at the office. A shower is available if required.

Taxis

Taxis can be called from the Station hotel opposite the railway station or from a phone in the vestibule of the Co-Op supermarket opposite the Royal Bank of Scotland. The fare from the railway station is around £2.50.

By Car (from the M8)

Free all day parking is available in the town centre for those who would like to fit a walk into their day, although ample car parking is available at CSFT.
