The vision for the Central Scotland Forest is that it will be an attractive place which enhances the lives, and life chances, of those living, working and playing there.

Our mission is to lead and secure the creation of the Central Scotland Forest.

To achieve this we have seven STRATEGIC GOALS

  • To champion a strong strategic vision for the Forest, the delivery of which will enhance people's lives
  • To encourage and support others to engage in a cohesive partnership which will create and sustain the Forest
  • To influence and connect with policies and programmes affecting the success of the Forest
  • To promote and win support for the Forest
  • To deliver public benefits through the implementation of Forest work
  • To work with partners to ensure long term care of the Forest
  • To build recognition of the Trust as a valued and valuable lead body in the Forest

To deliver these goals we are implementing three activity themes which comply with the core elements of sustainability – environmental, social and economic

ACTIVITY THEMES

Environmental - a place for living, working and recreation

To make Central Scotland a place where people will want to live, work and play we will:

  • Create new, and care for established, woodlands and greenspaces
  • Enhance biodiversity and create new forest habitat networks and native woodlands
  • Collaborate with public and private developers to ensure new housing projects are sympathetic to the environment
  • Tackle environmental injustice

Social - community participation and inclusion

To provide opportunities for communities to engage with, and benefit from the forest, we will:

  • Create opportunities for access to the countryside and thus encourage wider recreation
  • Run and support events, outreach and arts programmes to encourage participation
  • Promote healthy living and deliver health improvement programmes
  • Develop and deliver our educational activity including "Tree Trunk" and the Forest Education Initiative
  • Encourage engagement with the Forest through our youth programme, volunteering and training opportunities

Economic - Forest businesses and services

To support economic development directly related to the Forest we will:

  • Develop our wood heat energy programme, focusing on new users and the supply chain
  • Contribute to the development of wood-using businesses through the Forest Business Cluster Group
  • Support the development of non-timber forest products
